Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Jocelyn, and I’m the ginger behind Ginger and Oregano!
I began this blog as a way to catalog all the recipes I’ve worked my way through over the years. I love to get inspiration from cookbooks and from all over the internet, but I often tweak recipes to fit my tastes, and sometimes it’s difficult to remember what I did to any given recipe to make the food taste the way it did. So I figured, why not write it all down? However, I’m a millennial, and the art of physically writing out recipes is lost on my generation, so to the internet I went! And here I am.
I can’t promise you’ll read the most eloquent writing or see the most artfully-taken pictures, but what you will get is delicious food by following easy recipes using ingredients you’ve actually heard of.
You’ll notice that a lot of my recipes are made for 2 people (since that’s all I usually cook for), but most are easy to double for larger groups or to have leftovers. You’ll also notice that I list a lot of fat-free ingredients in my recipes and often post lighter versions of classics. That’s because I used to be enrolled in Weight Watchers in an attempt to lose some of the pounds I gained with all my pre-wedding stress eating. It worked wonderfully, and while I no longer follow Weight Watchers, I try to maintain a healthy weight by keeping things light when I can. But don’t be fooled, this is not meant to be a diet blog! Although I try to eat healthy, I enjoy a good cupcake as much as the next person.
